Join LUSH Valley Food Action Society and Chef Gaetane Palardy for a one-day in-person FoodSafe Level 1 Certification Course.

The FoodSafe Certification program is a comprehensive food-safety training for the food industry. An initiative of the Province of British Columbia, FoodSafe is managed by the BCFoodSafe Secretariat in partnership with the BC Centre for Disease Control, regional health authorities, BC Restaurant and Food Services Association and WorkSafe BC.

Following the successful completion of the course and a passing grade on the written exam, participants will receive their FoodSafe Level 1 certification.

Who should take FoodSafe?

  • High school students looking to open doors in the food service industry
  • Community volunteers assisting with food preparation or special events
  • Food industry workers
  • Residential home care and health care assistants
  • Anyone who regularly prepares food for friends and family

Location:

This course will take place at Innisfree Farm & Botanic Garden located at 3636 Trent Road in Courtenay.

Upon arrival, please park perpendicular to the fence along the property, and don't block the gates or fire lane.

Schedule:

The course will begin at 9:00 am. Please do not arrive any more than 15 minutes early.

During the instructional period, there will be a 30-minute break. Please plan accordingly by bringing a lunch, snacks and water.

After the instructional period is complete, at approximately 3:00, the test will begin. Participants may leave once they are finished writing their tests. Writing typically takes 30 to 60 minutes.

The FoodSafe test is available in English, French and 10 other languages. If you wish to take the test in a language other than English, please let us know in advance by emailing admin@lushvalley.org.
