About this event

  • 2 hours 30 minutes

Join us for a special concert commemorating International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia! Evelyn Jess and Spectrum Queer Choir will perform together, including selections from Evelyn Jess’ latest album "Bare Bones" - a collaboration which has been woven together by the skills of composer and arranger duo Clare Follett and Kelsey Arsenault. Featuring music to soothe, inspire, and unite us in times of rising hatred and fear, let us join our voices in solidarity against anti-trans policies and celebrate the love and resilience of our community. A portion of the proceeds will be shared with Trans Youth NL and Trans Support NL.

Doors Open at 7pm

For this event, Triangular Communications will be providing ASL interpretation for hard of hearing patrons.

Parking: We are located in the heart of Downtown St. John’s at 81 Cochrane Street, and there is no dedicated parking lot. On-street parking is available throughout the neighbourhood between April-November. For blue-zone pass holders, there is one accessible parking space on the ramp that leads up to the front doors.

Accessibility: Although we have made progress towards full accessibility with our recent upgrade to the ramp leading to the main doors, there are some features of our building that may be challenging to navigate for some audience members. The floor seating is all one level with a gentle downward slope leading to the front of the space, and there is one row with extra leg room that we designate as "accessible seating" because it has more room for placement of mobility aids. There is a ramp to the washroom area as well, but not all doors are button-operated. Please note that the balcony seating area is only accessible via staircase. If you have any other questions or concerns about accessibility, or would like to request specific accommodations, please contact natasha@firstlightnl.ca and we'll do what we can.
