First Light Arts

First Light is a registered non-profit organization that serves the urban Indigenous and non-Indigenous community alike by providing programs and services rooted in the revitalization, strengthening and celebration of Indigenous cultures and languages in the spirit of trust, respect, and friendship.

First Light Centre for Performance and Creativity is First Light’s new Indigenous-led professional arts centre, operating out of the building historically known as Cochrane Street United Church. This venue is dedicated to the creation, curation and exhibition of traditional and contemporary art, by providing accessible, supportive and inclusive spaces for music, dance, theatre, film, and visual arts. We believe that fine arts are a key aspect to cultural preservation and revitalization, and can serve as an effective means of fostering wellness in our communities.
