AAHGS Charlotte Chapter
Our Mission
The AAHGS Charlotte Chapter is dedicated to preserving, documenting, and sharing African American family history, genealogy, and cultural heritage.
We empower individuals and families to discover their roots, honor their ancestors, and strengthen community identity through research, education, and storytelling.
Our mission is to ensure that African American histories—local, regional, and national—are accurately represented, accessible, and celebrated for generations to come.
Our Goals
The goal of the AAHGS Charlotte Chapter is to preserve, research, and elevate African American family history and cultural heritage across the Charlotte–Mecklenburg region and beyond.
We work to empower individuals and families to discover their lineage, document their stories, and connect their histories to the broader narrative of African American life in North Carolina and the United States.
Through education, community engagement, and accessible genealogy resources, our goal is to ensure that African American histories are recognized, valued, and passed forward to future generations.
