NECTAR-NorthEast & Cumbria Transport And Retrieval

NECTAR is a 24/7 service, providing a dedicated, specially trained transport team, using their extensive experience and training in providing expert care for critically ill patients.

Officially launched in April 2016 as a children’s service, during COVID we expanded our service to include the transport of adult patients. Both services are now co-located and share a common pool of NECTAR practitioners providing a unique breadth of experience for our transport service. Our NECTAR practitioners are from a nursing or ODP background and receive extensive training.

What we do:

We are a specialised transport service that provides inter-hospital transfer for patients in the North East and Cumbria. If patients require services elsewhere nationally then we will try and facilitate this.

Services include:

• Medic led transfers for patient's who are critically ill• Non medic led transfers for those patients triaged to not need a prescribing medics input
