ABOUT ALTER EGO THEATRE

Alter Ego Theatre was founded by Ukrainian actress, director, and producer Snizhana Gukasian-Korobeinikova as an alternative to the existing theatrical landscape in Calgary.

It is a theatre without rigid borders — a space where classical texts and unconventional perspectives coexist, where drama may transform into comedy, and comedy may quietly return to drama. Alter Ego Theatre is a place of exploration, emotional intensity, and discovery — of both the characters on stage and one’s own alter ego.

Alter Ego Theatre is also a space dedicated to the search for new and compelling theatrical forms — a laboratory where stories of different nature find their own unique stage language.

Between 2023 and 2025, in just two years since arriving in Canada, Snizhana has produced and directed three stage productions: The Muze, The Snow Queen, and Lost & Found.

The Jay’s Wing marks her fourth production.

Snizhana is not only a leader who brings together like-minded artists and talents — she is also an active and proud representative of the Canadian theatre community.

In 2024, she received a CAT Award for Best Performance in a Leading Role in a Play for her role as Sylvia.

Join Alter Ego Theatre and experience European theatre-making — bold, intimate, and emotionally resonant.
