SMFAA's mission is to build bridges for newcomers to access community services and social connections. We offer support services to newcomers including referrals to community services such as housing, education and health care, interpretation and translation services, language classes, support in filling forms and documents, and connections to multicultural groups within the community, providing a safe place to land for people as they begin their new lives.

Our mandate:

• To ensure equal access and opportunity for immigrants and refugees and to facilitate their integration into Canadian society on the basis of available resources and within the context of the Association’s mandate.
• To provide services to heritage groups in order to assist them in both retaining their own culture and in sharing it with others.
• To promote multiculturalism in the community at large by heightening public awareness of the benefits of and the necessity for cross cultural understanding by developing and instituting programs to promote such understanding thus enriching Canadian society.
• To actively uphold the principles of the universal declaration of Human Rights of the Charter of the United Nations.
