Ava (she/her) is a community organiser, hosting and co-facilitating monthly death cafes in Vancouver. Having earned a degree in Political Science, Ava's focus on community care and social policy analysis led her to discover a passion for death and grief care.

Through an exploration of the funeral industry and death anxiety in North America, she became inspired to begin hosting death cafes in Vancouver, conversational events emerging out of London, UK, to create a space for people to connect over these often taboo topics.

Ava is particularly interested in conversations surrounding grief, ceremony building, and contemplative ecology within Western culture. Besides running her own events, she has volunteered with the Community Death Care Project at Carnegie Community Centre, and is a member of The ABE Project – a collective of death and grief care practitioners in Vancouver. Outside of these pursuits, Ava loves to be outside riding her bike, birding, or reading. She also enjoys playing guitar, and sings in a local community choir.
