Te international acclaimed Ballet Folklóriko Aztlán of México is a leading force in Canada’s progressive multiculturalism folk movement.
Te Ballet Folklóriko Aztlán's mission is to create, present, preserve, and to extend the great repertoire of Mexican Folklore dancing, through exciting performances and educational programming of the highest quality, presented to the widest possible audience.
Te group’s vast ballet repertoire draws from both, traditional Aztecs and Mayan sources and original classic ballet fusion, while enhancing it’s hard driving soulful Folk dance (rooted in Mexico) with a broad range of Spanish, French, Polish, Celtic and Afro influences.
Since its inception registered as a non-profit organization in March 2002, the Ballet Folklórico Aztlán has enjoyed meteoric success, performing well over hundreds of shows in Canada, México, and Italy for thousands of people and racking up several prestigious awards, including an Othli Prix (Te most prestigious recognition that the Mexican government grants), from the Mexican Federal Government, and several awards from the Cities of Ottawa, Montreal and Gatineau, the Canadian Federal Government, the City of Rome in Italy, among others.
We collaborated and performed with a diverse range of local and international artists including the International renowned FrenchCanadian “Le Vent du Nord, L’orchestra Symphonic de Gatineau, La Compañia de Danza Soy Mexico, La voz de la Sonora Santanera, the international renowned Voz en Punto, Banda Los Kabonys, International renowned Tlen Hucani, among others.
