Bolingbrook Pride

WHO WE ARE:

• Our Purpose: We will encourage and cultivate acceptance of the variety of sexual orientations and gender identities that exist in the population of Bolingbrook and surrounding areas.
• Our Mission: We aim to promote an understanding of, and equality for, the LGBTQ populace within our community by raising awareness. We plan to do this through public displays, educational programs, and events, manifesting in our an annual PrideFest. We will encourage LGBTQ persons to feel welcome and accepted.
• Our Vision: Bolingbrook Pride envisions a community and a society free of prejudice, bigotry, and hate. Some of the ways we will accomplish our vision and educate the community are by developing leaders, networks, and actions that help create positive change.

OUR VALUES:

• Social Equality: To mobilize the community for intersectional work/support to promote social equality.
• Voice and Action: To give a voice to the LGBTQ community in Bolingbrook and encourage action in our leaders.
• Empowerment: To empower leaders, youth, and community members to make positive  changes in our area.
• Positive Change: To build a stronger LGBTQ and ally community within Bolingbrook and surrounding areas.
• Diversity: To Celebrate and welcome diversity.

THE ULTIMATE GOALS OF BOLINGBROOK PRIDE ARE:

• To work in partnership with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning (LGBTQ) communities to educate the greater population about needs, issues, and various aspects of LGBTQ culture and foster acceptance;
• To provide a forum to celebrate the history and accomplishments of LGBTQ people;
• To create an environment for networking and outreach, to support services and community opportunities for LGBTQ people and their families and friends; and
• To facilitate other activities exclusively for charitable, educational, and research purposes, expanding eventually to include donations to non-profit organizations whose actions align with our goals.
