Free Geek Toronto
Free Geek Toronto, a federally registered non-profit organization, embraces the ethos of promoting digital inclusion, environmental sustainability, and community growth. Since our grassroots inception in 2009, we have evolved into a social enterprise specializing in the reuse of technology. Free Geek Toronto provides affordable computers, presents eco-friendly solutions for unwanted and end-of-life technology, and collaborates with partners to bolster digital inclusion in the city.
Free Geek Toronto operates on a unique model that blends environmental stewardship with digital empowerment and community enhancement. We accept electronics donations, refurbish them, and offer them to individuals and organizations at affordable prices. This practice not only mitigates electronic waste but also ensures technology accessibility for those who would otherwise be unable to afford it.
Beyond our recycling and refurbishing operations, Free Geek Toronto also provides technology to organizations championing social change, thereby broadening the reach and impact of our work. We offer both in-person shopping and online order pickups, maintaining an online store to ensure our services remain widely accessible.
Free Geek Toronto also serves as an employment social enterprise, offering meaningful employment and skill-enhancing opportunities to individuals encountering multiple barriers to employment. We provide comprehensive training in all operational aspects—sales, refurbishment, reuse, customer service, and recycling warehousing—with a focus on technology. This distinctive model equips individuals with crucial digital-age skills while reaffirming the organization's commitment to environmental transformation and social impact.
