Grey Ag Services
Grey County Agricultural Services opened in 2000 when funding cuts closed the Markdale OMAFRA office, and local support was rallied to open Grey Ag in its place. The office provides the following services to the local agricultural community:
- Information and referral on government assistance programs, soil testing and local agricultural contacts, agriculture related publications and fact sheets
- Website with local events, calendars, contacts and resources
- Boardroom space for agricultural organizations
- Agricultural programs administration (Winter Courses!)
- Grey County Rural Guide.
Grey County Agricultural Services also provides administrative and management services on a “fee for service” basis to the following organizations: Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week, Grey County Soil & Crop Improvement Association, Georgian Central Soil & Crop Improvement Association, Ontario Forage Council, Ontario Biomass Producers Co-operative, and Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS).
Of the above initiatives, two of the largest efforts include the organization of Grey Bruce Farmers' Week and of the Winter Course program.
Since 2000, Grey Ag Services has worked with local experts to get information to farmers and rural residents through the Winter Course program delivery. Please see our website for a full listing of our programs and services, and further details on the current course roster. www.greyagservices.ca
