Mindfulness for Health runs evidence-based 8-week Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) programs at least 3 times per year. Our next two programs will be running on Saturdays, starting on Sat. Sept. 17th, 2016, with the option of taking either the morning program or the afternoon program. Please see the links for more details. If you have coverage for Occupational Therapy or Social Work, you can be reimbursed for the cost of the program under extended healthcare benefits. We also offer monthly Mindfulness classes for graduates. Our next 8-week MBCT programs will be starting in January and April. We are also running an MBCT Program through the Canadian Mental Health Association, Peel Branch, in Brampton on Friday mornings starting in September.
We receive referrals through doctors, psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and self-referrals. There is a huge and growing body of literature that proves that Mindfulness Training can reduce stress levels, reduce anxiety, increase positive emotions, train and improve concentration/attention, enhance productivity, improve immune system functioning, improve sleep and improve one’s capacity to skillfully work with unpleasant/negative feelings.
Mindfulness training has been infiltrating the healthcare system (staff and patients), school system (teachers and students), the world of sports as well as large corporations. Under the care of a licensed health care professionals, Angie Kingma OT Reg. (Ont.) and co-facilitator Gaye Gould MSW RSW, our groups, which are based upon Jon Kabat-Zinn’s 8-week MBSR program, will help put you in touch with your mind and body in new ways. These scientifically proven techniques can help you restore a sense of balance, improve your sense of well-being and enrich your enjoyment of life.
