SUPPORT BLACK CHARITIES
Support Black Charities (SBC) is a Canadian registered nonprofit and an online platform that connects charitable organizations (including non-profits, NGOs, community-based and grassroots) to supporters in the Black community and allies. We are committed to increasing online visibility and boost charitable giving by and for people of African and Caribbean descent worldwide.
Our vision is to create a global community of B3 organizations (Black-led, Black serving, Black focus), Black donors, volunteers, supporters as well as allies interested in contributing to the community they identify with locally (“home”) or abroad (“back home”). Our mission is to inspire compassion while increasing visibility of organizations serving the Black community.
How? Here are some of the ways we are fulfilling our mission:
• We are continuously engaging with eligible and impactful organizations to grow our online directory.
• We properly evaluate and vet organizations according to our own “7 Key Requirements for Best Practice” for online visibility, transparency, and trustworthiness.
• We feature vetted organizations, their programs, their events, or their executive/volunteer teams on Social Media to amplify their mission based on the selected Free or Paid Annual Service Plan.
• We bring attention to and raise awareness on issues or matters specific to the Black experience.
• We look for valuable resources for organizations to share on our website’s Resource page. (Ex: grants, funding, courses, etc.)
• We actively promote our vetted directory to attract volunteers and potential donors to find Black organizations to support or engage with.
• Organizations Listed, Featured or Promoted on our platform (directory, website, Social Media, Newsletter, Blog) benefit from direct exposure to a very targeted audience looking specifically to make a difference in the Black Community.
• Finally, on behalf of all the organizations in our network, we purposefully look to build long-term relationships with Philanthropic and Giving institutions to provide more funding opportunities. We raise awareness and advocate for compassionate change to reverse systemic lack of charitable giving to Black focus organizations.
We currently have over 130 vetted black serving organizations from 22 countries represented in our online directory with an average of 1,500/monthly unique visitors to our website.
