This course is non-refundable.

How familiar should I be with computer programming prior to joining this program?

Accepted Answer

There are no prerequisites for Course 1 of the series. The prerequisites for Courses 2 and 3 are simply the materials in the previous courses, although familiarity with those topics in other programming languages (e.g., R, Java) should be sufficient.

Question 3

Will lectures be delivered live or will they be recorded?

Accepted Answer

The courses are self-study, meaning that students will be expected to watch pre-recorded lectures on their own time.  Learners will be able to ask questions about the materials through UofT's Quercus platform and weekly live office hours with the instructor.

Will each lecture be recorded for participants to review at a later time?

One pre-recorded lecture will be released per week over the course of 5 weeks.

Does the course fee include all course materials?

Yes, participants are not required to purchase any equipment or readings.

Question 6

What is Google Colab? How do participants sign up for it? Is it free?

Accepted Answer

Anyone with a Google account will already have access to Google Colab, which is like Google Docs for programming. It allows participants to run code on the cloud without having to set up a programming environment on their local computer.  Learners will need internet access and a free Google account.

Question 7

Will participants need a Google Colab account before the course starts?

The course instructor will provide a brief overview of Google Colab at the beginning of each 5-week course.
