Strong Families Series with PSD

Information sessions for caregivers and their families. Sessions include information about supporting your youth to transition from FSCD to PDD and how to access resources when you need them.

The "Attendance Matters" presentation will review the importance of regular school attendance for children in elementary, middle, and high school. It highlights how consistent attendance is essential for building a strong academic foundation, developing social skills, and fostering a sense of belonging within the school community. The presentation also addresses common myths about absenteeism, such as the misconceptions that occasional absences do not add up to significant learning loss or that certain groups of students are not affected by chronic absenteeism.Absenteeism and mental health, we will explore the impact as frequent absences add to feelings of anxiety and isolation, particularly in students already facing emotional challenges. Parents will receive practical strategies for overcoming barriers to attendance. With evidence-based insights and resources, this presentation empowers parents in actively supporting their child's education and well-being.`This is a hybrid event. You may attend this session virtually over Zoom OR in-person at the Parkland School Division Centre for Education office ( 4603 48 Street in Stony Plain).
