Members of the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers are required to complete annual professional development, which must include training or activities related to preventing and managing vicarious trauma and secondary stress.

Such stories led us to wonder: What are the personal attitudes and behaviors that contribute to satisfying social work practice?  What preparation and continuing personal adaptations are needed to sustain motivation, energy and engagement over the years and decades that make up a career? With enthusiasm and professionalism, she functioned in leadership and clinical roles.  </p><p>Jim Morton, MSW, is a retired social worker living in Kentville Nova Scotia with interests in mental health, family systems theory, politics, and social change.  </p><p><br></p><h3>Eligibility</h3><p>There are no prerequisites for this session.
