<h3>kihci-okâwîmâw askiy Knowledge Centre, in partnership with the Rekunyk Seminar Series, AgBio.</h3><h4>Echoes of the Past: Unraveling the Historical Land Debates</h4> This workshop will be offered in person as well as online. Refreshments will be provided to in person attendees at 1:30pm. Please ensure that you have registered to the correct event page.Join us for an insightful workshop that delves into the complex and contested issues surrounding authority and jurisdiction over Indigenous lands and territories. This session will explore the historical and ongoing debates in Canada and globally, shedding light on common misconceptions and the lack of knowledge about Indigenous peoples' history and their rights to the land.Drawing on research from the early 1900s on Alquonquian lands, the presenter will examine the central issue of what constitutes the Indigenous understanding of the territorial meaning of "our and or our country." Through the lens of Keith Napoleon Goulet from Cumberland House, Saskatchewan, participants will gain a deeper understanding of these critical issues and engage in meaningful discussions to broaden their perspectives.This workshop is ideal for anyone interested in Indigenous history, land rights, and the ongoing dialogue about jurisdiction and authority over Indigenous territories.Speaker: kêhtê-aya, Keith Goulet, Cumberland House, SaskatchewanExpected Outcomes:<ul><li>Intergenerational knowledge sharing.</li><li>An increased understanding about the common misconceptions about Indigenous peoples' history and their rights to the land.</li></ul>
