Do I have to be an artist to participate?

NO!  This programme is geared to anyone who wants to explore what creativity means to their life, and to break down the barriers to being freer with our creative selves.

I'm a man.  Can I join this programme?

No, sorry.  Firecracker Deoartment is a space for female and non-binary folks and this programme is done in conjunction with Firecracker Department.  Please contact Veronica Martin at veronica@veronicaannemartin.ca to find out about programmes for everyone.

Question 3

What do I need to participate?

Accepted Answer

We'll meet by Zoom join our private Facebook group. We will have a WhatsApp group for the first time this year.  You'll need paper - a dollar store 81/2x11 workbook is perfect, and something to write with. Julia Cameron's book The Artist's Way can be purchased, downloaded or borrowed from a library.

Question 4

I've heard this is a religious programme and that doesn't work for me.  Is it?

Accepted Answer

Julia Cameron has written from her perspective, and that involves a belief in a Creator.  It comes up, and I encourage sharing thoughts on how this programme can fit many belief or non-belief systems.  We do not approach the material from any religious or spiritual perspective.

Question 5

I can't make every session.  Will I get enough out of it?

Accepted Answer

There's no denying the benefits of a group who are going yhrough the same programme as you.  Deep sharing happens weekly in our online calls, which are not recorded for privacy.  You'll still benefit, and the Facebook group and What's App groups will be there for sharing between sessions.

Question 6

What if I fall behind and don't read the chapter one week?

PLEASE come anyways!  I promise you'll benefit from being with your people whether you've read the chapter or done any exercises.  It's not school!
