The virus that causes COVID-19 has unfortunately become the new reality of our present world. Thus, we must learn to adapt to this extremely unprecedented time so that everyone, including the deafblind community, can continue to live rich and meaningful lives. This webinar - The New Reality of Living a Pandemic Life – will focus on just that – how we can better support individuals who are deafblind gain a stronger perspective on this particular virus and support them in adapting to the current ways of living. This webinar will begin by providing several learning objectives including: 1) different communication techniques (Sign Exact English, picture cues, voice over, ASL) to ensure individuals who are deafblind receive all the information they need; 2) existing tools and techniques used to provide insight; 3) alternative techniques used for those who rely on communication techniques, thus restricting social distancing; and 4) getting through this pandemic as one community. Throughout this webinar, it will become evident that living with a pandemic is a challenging time for everyone, but we can adapt our ways of living to prepare for our new future and get through it together.
