The Wild Nellies is a performing womxn-creatives collective. We are diverse in art practice, age and culture. Among us are creators of music, art, theatre, film, photography, dance, poetry, spoken word poetry and literature. At our Celebration of Womxn events, we gather  to perform or exhibit our work and to spread the healing power of creative self-expression to womxn struggling to find their voice.Through Meet-ups for Womxn Creatives, our creativity panels explores the challenges and pathways to creating art. The Wild Nellies Meet-up for Womxn Creatives will introduce you to womxn creatives who can offer fresh perspectives to get you unstuck. Enjoy our insightful creativity-panel discussion featuring these dynamic creators: Sacha Visagie, Heather Leach-Edwards, Premika Leo, FJ Doucet and Gwen Tuinman.Canadian Country Artist, Sacha Visagie is a pioneer, fearlessly working toward equal representation for young women of all creeds and colour to be deservedly embraced and included in the country music landscape of Canada. In 2018, Sacha hit national airways and kept the “Good Times Going” with her independently charting single. Her follow up EP, produced and A&amp;R’d by CCMA Producer Of The Year Nominee Dan Swinimer, is teeming with songwriting acumen from top Canadian and U.S writers. Among them are CCMA 2019 Female Artist of The Year, Tenille Townes, Kelly Prescott, Madeline Merlo, Karen Kosowski, Emma Lee (Tim Hicks) and Mackenzie Porter. Helen Leach-Edwards Helen Leach-Edwards is best known for her colourful and imaginary paintings designed to convey the resilience and strength of women. As she explains, “they are inspirational depictions of the evolution of oneself and the beauty associated with this.” Helen holds an Honours B.A. Fine Arts (Studio) from the University of Waterloo in Canada.
 She was most recently showcased in the Whitby Art Show, the Society of Canadian Artists 2020 Online international Juried Exhibition and the Celebration of Women hosted by the Wild Nellies in September 2019. Premika Leo is a dancer, circus aerialist and actor. You may have seen her in several television series such as Kim’s Convenience and DC’s Titans. She has also starred as one of the leads in the digital series Couple-ish. Premika is currently running her dance company, Geetika Dance Co., which is one of the oldest dance companies in Canada, founded by Caribbean womxn, to offer Odissi, Nagara and Filmi(Bollywood) styles of dance with a focus on outreach and accessibility to the Caribbean community in the GTA. She uses both her educational background and dance company to share activist messages, creating spaces for broadly Caribbean representation on stage, while tackling and informing audience members on subjects such as anti-racism, intersectional feminism, QTBIPOC identity, and toxic masculinity in her community. Premika is committed to being a life long unlearner and learner.FJ Doucet was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and has since lived in Europe, the Middle East, and in far northern Canada. Recently appointed to the leadership of the Brooklin Poetry Society in Whitby, her poetry was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2019. Her work has most recently appeared in Feels Zine, Prometheus Unbound anthology collection, Martin Lake Journal, and CommuterLit, with verse forthcoming in the inaugural issue of Yolk, a Montreal-based literary journal, Daddy, an anthology by grey borders press, and Andromeda Spaceways Magazine. A life-long fan of speculative fiction, her prose science fiction was recently published in an anthology by Candlemark and Gleam press. Gwen Tuinman is a novelist whose storytelling, set in yesteryear, explores human tenacity and people navigating the social restrictions of their era. She is the author of the recently released novel, The Last Hoffman with readers in North and South America and Europe. Her published memoir essays—We Are Enough: A Story of Self-Doubt and Portrait of an Escape: A Story of Fleeing Domestic Abuse—offer insights into her personal experience of domestic abuse. She writes about creative life and novel research online. Gwen is also the creator of The Wild Nellies, a growing collective of women creatives who raise awareness and funds for charities helping women to escape domestic abuse. She remains perpetually fascinated by all roads to creativity.
