When our state is off, it’s no fun. Learn to transform overwhelm into endless wisdom and greater capacities to love, act, connect and be.

It can be hard to remember when things are groundless and everyone around us is sliding into fear or negativity, that when our state is off, it’s no fun for anyone. The thing is, we don't have to be part of an emotional plague, we can learn to cultivate wholesome emotional states that feel good. We can turn uncomfortable emotions around and tap into boundless love, compassion, joy and equanimity. You may have tried applying mindfulness and meditation techniques in the past, and find them helpful for ordinary problems, but not tough enough for the big problems, like climate change, inequality and all the change that comes with this global pandemic. Although humans are remarkably adaptable, this pandemic has brought greater isolation, deeper financial woes (for many), and a challenge to our core values. When life gets challenging, everything can seem overwhelming, heavy and stressful. You might find you lose your zest for life and get triggered easily, falling into states of anger, anxiety and depression. Rather than bringing you closer to that which you value, you may find your state repels the very connections and depth you are seeking that truly nourish you.If you want to be in the best state possible, or find you get lost in negativity; join with other like-minded folks as we explore four nourishing states that truly align and sustain us: loving kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity. Who is this course for?This course is ideal for anyone meeting the teachers', Doug Sensei and Catherine Sensei, for the first time and wanting more wakefulness in their lives. Whether you are new in your explorations of Awakening or have been on the path for some time, these universal principles are accessible, practical and simply profound. Online Classes: 9am-10:30am and 3pm-4:30pm MST on both days, October 3-4th.What will we learn?Drawing on the wisdom of the Brahma Viharas: sometimes known in Buddhism as the four sublime abidings or the four immeasurables, we'll learn how to: <ul><li>transform anger into loving kindness for self and other, </li><li>channel our energy to act and speak our truth for the benefit of self and others, </li><li>experience empathetic joy for others, </li><li>and be unmoved in the face of ongoing and sometimes extreme change.</li></ul>We can leverage these four tools in everyday life, ultimately training ourselves and others how to be in a state of grace 24/7. Please note: To get the most from these classes, you are expected to attend both classes live. If for any reason you are unable to, limited access will be provided to a recording of each session.<h3></h3><h3>About the Teachers</h3>Doug Duncan and Catherine Pawasarat are Dharma and meditation teachers who founded Clear Sky Meditation Centre, BC, Canada.Achariya Doug Duncan received lay ordination from Namgyal Rinpoche in 1978, and is a lineage holder in that teaching. Known for his direct, humourous and compassionate engagement with students, Doug embraces various traditions, contemporary psychology, and science, to mentor all beings to a more awakened state.Catherine Pawasarat has trained daily with Acariya Doug Duncan since 1998 in an intensive spiritual apprenticeship that is rare in the modern West. She received lay ordination from Namgyal Rinpoche in 2003. In addition to Buddhist philosophy and its applications to daily life, Catherine also draws on generative living and the arts. With Doug she is co-founder of Clear Sky Retreat Center in the BC Rockies.Why are they adept to teach this course?<ul><li>They’re well versed in Theravadin, Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhist philosophy and practices, as well as contemporary psychology, consciousness studies and art. </li><li>They are pioneering Karma Yoga and generosity practices in the West, and base their teachings and retreat center on these radical and profound practices. </li><li>They teach from a place of love, not fear, and offer an alternative to many of the fear-based voices in the media today. </li><li>They believe in community and live fully and vibrantly amidst the turbulence without becoming part of it. </li></ul>What’s Expected?<ul><li>Bring an open mind. </li><li>Questions are welcomed.</li><li>Talks will start promptly at 9am MT.
