St. Catharines Culture:The Cultural Services office is a division of the City of St. Catharines’ Community, Recreation and Culture Services department. Cultural Services focuses on public art, community development, planning and policy related to arts and culture in the City of St. Catharines. During Culture Days, staff partner with organizations and artists to deliver programs for the Community.

FREE | IN-PERSON WORKSHOPVisual Arts | Drawing &amp; PaintingINK &amp; WATERCOLOUR ILLUSTRATIONS WITH JON SHAWLocation: St. Catharines Museum &amp; Welland Canals Centre, 1932 Welland Canals ParkwayDate: Sunday, September 27Sessions start at: 9:15 am , 11:15 am, 1:15 pm and 3:15 pm , doors open 15 minutes in advance of each session for staggered seating and entrance protocols.Artist: Jon ShawExplore illustration with artist Jon Shaw as he guides you through the process using ink markers and watercolours. Using a tracing technique, participants will create basic line drawings onto watercolour paper. Then learn professional tips &amp; tricks in drawing and painting to enhance your completed piece of art! Pre-registration required, spend 1 hour creating. Please register for every participant attending, maximum 4 tickets per family group. Youth under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult companion (please register this companion).Suitable for ages 6+, instruction will be tailored to age and ability levelSocial distancing in effect, Masks required for ages 6+, enhanced cleaning and hand sanitization protocols in effect.....................................................................JON SHAW:Artist Jon Shaw, is also known as the Roaming Illustrator. He illustrates in a variety of places; coffee shops, beaches, and his couch. He combines ink drawing and watercolour to make lovely creations. Shaw takes inspiration from everywhere. Flea markets, nature, and urban spaces. Jon Shaw returned to his home town of St. Catharines in 2018 and has since presented work in solo exhibitions at Mahtay Café &amp; Lounge and the Niagara Artists Centre (NAC). He also participated in the City’s Juried Exhibit in 2019, resulting in his piece ‘This Way’ being acquired for the City’s Civic Art Collection.
