Spoon Community Meal with Inwendaamin Oki

The Seasoned Spoon is a non-profit, vegetarian, cooperative café located in Champlain College at Trent University. The café is committed to serving locally, and whenever possible, organically sourced food at affordable prices. A central part of our mandate as a not-for-profit community-based organization is also to offer educational opportunities to the campus and broader Peterborough community. This is realized primarily through paid and volunteer work positions, reskilling workshops, panel discussions, community meals, and student research projects. We endeavour to act as a space on campus where members can increase their awareness of food issues and be inspired to action.

The Seasoned Spoon Café

The Seasoned Spoon cafe and Inwendaamin Oki welcome you to a Community Walk and Meal, on Tuesday, February 11th. We hope that you can join us to celebrate this land, and acknowledge the changes and its impacts that are taking place. 4:30pm- we will gather outside of the Spoon cafe to create Prayer flags for this land, a ceremony led by Elder Dorothy Taylor of Curve Lake. We will continue on a guided walk, led by friends of Inwendaamin Oki, where we can hang our flags. 5:30pm - Arrive at the Seasoned Spoon for a discussion and warm meal, PWYC. 6:30- Prayer flag activity: we will be creating flags together that will be brought up to the Trent Vegetable Gardens at a future date - as a gesture of grief and healing as we continue to grow food and connect with the land in a time of upheaval and construction. If you are interested in joining us for just the walk, please feel free to drop-in, and bring your friends.
