The Calgary Alliance for the Common GoodOrganizing the power of communities to shape a just and compassionate cityThe Calgary Alliance for the Common Good is working:To create a broad-based shared organization that is as diverse as Calgary,  building relationships among organizations and people from various community, ethnic, non-profit, labour, and religious groupsTo strengthen our member organizations and their leaders in order to develop a healthy and effective civicTo use the principles and techniques of community organizing to effectively address the real issues facing Calgarians and our member organizations.

Calgary Alliance for the Common Good

This virtual community organizing training will provide participants with skills to engage their communities.

This training provides content based on the philosophy and practices developed by the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) in over 70 years of organizing experience. It includes: • What is community organizing and why use a community organizing approach • The organizing cycle .• Relational meetings. • Listening sessions .• Problems vs. Issues. • Power over vs. Power with. • Negotiations and actions to obtain concrete and winnable outcomes.Please note: This is a 10 hour virtual training which runs Monday and Thursday&#x27;s from 7-9pm starting on Monday, November 16 and ending on Monday, November 30, 2020.This is an online training.Cost: For non-members, ticket cost will go towards your membership if you would like to become a member
