The Saskatchewan Association of Watersheds (SAW), with support from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) through the Environmental Damages Fund (EDF), is launching a new project: Applying a Landscape Approach to Improve Biodiversity. As part of this project, SAW has funding available to support five landowners in the North Saskatchewan River Watershed in purchasing and installing offsite livestock watering systems. This workshop is intended to provide landowners with information and resources about the benefits of offsite livestock watering systems and how they can improve herd and water health, as well as technical information about the equipment and their operation.Presentations will cover topics including the ecological benefits of offsite livestock watering systems on local water quality and their improvements to livestock health, how offsite livestock watering systems have become a key BMP (beneficial management practice) for modern livestock production, and different options for systems available to producers. In addition to providing information and resources, SAW is looking for landowners who are interested in installing offsite livestock watering systems in the summer of 2025.Please note, the agenda is subject to change.
