Let’s Talk Science:  Electricity Snap Circuits & Beaver Lodge Dam Building

Located on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, Ontario Power Generation's visitor centre showcases the history of the St. Lawrence Seaway and Power Project as well as the communities and people affected, and great biodiversity stories like the American Eel. Come explore our exciting and informative interactive displays that make our visitor centre a key tourist destination in the Cornwall area.

Students are introduced to electricity and build various snap circuits. In pairs, students build a beaver dam and lodge to test strength.

Saunders Hydro Dam Visitor Centre

Students are introduced to electricity and build various snap circuits in groups to see how electrical energy is transformed to light energy, mechanical energy, and learn the difference between parallel and series circuits.In pairs, students build a beaver dam and lodge. Strong and stable structures are discussed in the introduction. Lodges are tested for strength using books or just pressing down with their hand. The importance of beavers to wetland ecosystems will be discussed.Recommended for all ages 11-13.Register today. Space is limited.
