Gustav Holst's The Planets has become one of the most popular and recognizable works in the orchestral repertoire, known for its powerful and evocative music that captures the essence of each planet's astrological character... from the aggressive and relentless Mars to the ethereal and mysterious Neptune. The suite's popularity and enduring legacy are a testament to Holst's ability to create music that is both intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant. Also on the program is Strauss' Sunrise from Also Sprach Zarathustra, Haydn's The depiction of Chaos from the Creation, Rutter's For the Beauty of the Earth, and Berlin's Blue Skies. We are joined by guest artists Chorus York.
