About the Policy innovation initiative (Pii)Pii unpacks what it truly means to be innovative in designing and implementing policy. Our vision is to develop a new generation of public policy leaders and professionals with enhanced capacity to address existing and future policy challenges that require ever-evolving, multi-disciplinary, and innovative thinking.We are a student-led initiative housed within the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto and is supported by both the Peterson Fund and the School of Public Policy & Governance.About the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, University of TorontoMunk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, established in 2006, is a leading public policy educational institution with a distinctive program. Our students receive both a theoretical introduction to public policy and practical, real-world experience that will equip them to meet the future challenges of policy making. As well as offering an undergraduate degree with a public policy major and a rigorous masters program, we strive to facilitate life-long learning for public policy professionals and on-going connections between public policy makers, faculty, and students.

Register for  Dr. Matthias Oschinski's virtual seminar on Inclusive Innovation, hosted by the Policy Innovation Initiative.

Matthias is the director of innovation economics at MaRS Discovery District. Prior to moving to MaRS, he was a manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers, in their economic practice. He has over 15 years of experience in empirical economic and statistical analysis working at think tanks, in academia and the public sector. He has lived and worked in Germany, the UK, India and Canada. Over the past 15 years, he has designed and delivered numerous workshops, lectures and presentations on matters of economic policy to a variety of audiences.Matthias conducts in-depth research on Canada’s economic development, labour market developments and the innovation economy. His work focuses on the determinants of industry success and firm growth, as well as the future of work and inclusive innovation.
