As the biotech landscape evolves at breakneck speed, building the next generation of biotech ventures demands not only cutting-edge science but also innovative business strategies. This panel will explore how startups and established companies can leverage current trends to create scalable, high-impact ventures—achieving exponential growth by doing more with less.The panel will feature: Moderator: Reem Hamdon, President at Biomedical Technology Master's Program at the University of CalgaryDr Deborah Kurrasch, Professor, Medical Genetics at the University of Calgary.Naheed Kurji, Former President at Recursion, Co-Founder at StealthRicky Mehra, General Partner at Continuum Health VenturesThis event series happens every week at the Pioneer. Doors open at 4:30pm, the panel starts at 5pm. About DeborahDr Deborah Kurrasch is a Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of Calgary, a Scientist in the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and CEO of Stream Neuroscience, a biotech focused on the development of anti-seizure drugs with novel mechanisms of action. Dr Kurrasch’s lab studies pediatric epilepsy using patient-derived brain organoids and mouse models. Her lab has developed a patented drug screening platform to uncover new druggable targets for children with refractory epilepsy and is commercializing one of their drug assets via Stream Neuroscience. About NaheedNaheed was the President of Recursion Canada, where he oversaw the Canadian operations of Recursion, a clinical-stage biotechnology company that is decoding biology by integrating technological innovations across biology, chemistry, automation, machine learning, and engineering to industrialize drug discovery. He was in this role after Recursion acquired Cyclica, a company that he co-founded and led as President and CEO for over 10 years.
