The tour of Kalamalka Garden will allow students to learn a brief history of Syilx, who are the Indigenous people of the Okanagan.

Students will learn the Syilx background of the land where the garden is located. Storytelling and teaching of the Syilx Okanagan captikʷł of the Four Food Chiefs will inspire and enthrall students of all ages as they hear stories brought down from generation to generation as a gift from K’ulenc’uten to help the Syilx survive on the land.Students will have the opportunity to view how plants in the garden are used to make all sorts of products including food, jewelry, gifts and medicines. The tour presenter will provide a short workshop on an Indigenous garden product and how it is grown, harvested and made into a gift.Please note that the tour can accommodate a maximum of 30 students. Only 1 tour per day.
