Funder Panel - The Future of Funding

“Major-gifts” is a jargon fundraising word that means unusually large donations for our cause. Fundraising is a complex and legal system of money that neither the Canada Revenue Agency or charities make clear to donors, or even or our own leadership. We are going to turn jargon into English with this workshop. Breaking down the barriers to understanding how; to access the donors, the knowledge to understand the tactics, competitive landscape and the law around donations and philanthropy. Most of all we will talk about how the BIG charities do it, and how all organizations from nonprofits and small organizations can get bigger gifts from public donors with less resources and capacity. Most charities don’t know that although there are under 10,000 registered foundations with the CRA… there are over 100,000 secret foundations in Canada? That we have been wasting our time chasing the wealthy and the revolution will neither be receipted or even fundraised. What does that mean?
