2025 Artist Development Workshops

As part of our commitment to increasing capacity for artists, the Eastside Arts Society offers affordable professional development workshops for artists throughout the year.

Grant Writing Success! Writing a successful grant application can often be a challenge. Funding guidelines priorities can often be challenging to decipher, and with an increasingly competitive grant environment can make success even tougher to achieve. For all those who need some guidance on successful grant writing, this is the workshop for you. Facilitator Mary Ann Anderson (<a href="https://www.littledog.ca/" title="https://www.littledog.ca/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Little Dog Creative Consulting</a>) will translate what the funder really means in their guidelines language, identify ‘red flag’ language to avoid, and go through the best ways to make your application speak directly to what each funder is looking for. The workshop will provide a clear road-map to creating a successful application – for both first-timers and long-time grant recipients. Anderson will also be introducing her recent project, <a href="https://littledog.substack.com/p/introducingsmartgrant" title="https://littledog.substack.com/p/introducingsmartgrant" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">SmartGrant</a>, an interactive online tool designed for British Columbia artists and arts &amp; cultural organizations to identify grant and funding sources. $20 + GST for CRAWL ARTISTS$25 + GST for NON-CRAWL ARTISTS* Please note: You must have registered for the 2024 Culture Crawl to receive the Crawl discount price. Anderson</a>Mary Ann S. Anderson is a Vancouver-based arts administrator, who has worked in the local cultural community since 1989. A graduate of the University of Toronto’s Arts Administration Program, Mary Ann has been the Executive Director of a number of organizations, including arts service groups, galleries, artist cooperatives and municipal government agencies. Mary Ann has considerable experience in public fundraising, and in the development of fundraising plans; in addition, she was responsible for the delivery of the North Vancouver municipal granting program working with 50+ arts organizations over the course of 12 years. She has forged successful relationships with funding agencies across the country in the course of her career. Mary Ann is the founder of <a href="https://www.littledog.ca/" title="https://www.littledog.ca/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Little Dog Creative Consulting</a> (2005), which provides consulting services for a variety of clients in the areas of arts management, organizational planning, capacity building and public fundraising.
