The Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers is an inclusive, non-profit, arts-based society that exists to encourage film making as art, reflecting and challenging our changing cultural landscape through production and exhibition of the Filmmaker.We encourage all levels of membership by providing resources and workshops to increase members’ skills and achieve personal arts-based expression. Through exhibitions and community outreach we will strive to increase the public awareness of the CSIF, its Producing Members and their work.The Mission of the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers (CSIF) is to encourage, support and endorse the production and exhibition of film in an artistic, social and cultural context. The CSIF is structured in such a way as to enable filmmakers to learn, develop and practice film making in an environment free from box office pressure, securing integrity and allowing for the development of an indigenous film language.

Set decoration visually communicates time, place, and tone. A well-decorated set immerses the audience in the world of the film, making scenes more believable and emotionally impactful. Whether it's a cluttered apartment or a grand palace, every object contributes to storytelling. It transforms a script into a living, breathing environment, turning fiction into a tangible cinematic experience.Mike Kasper is a production designer for film and TV. He's worked on such things as True Fiction and the upcoming This Too Shall Pass.This event is sponsored by the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers. CSIF was founded in 1978 by a collective of twelve filmmakers who saw the growing need for film resources and film equipment on the traditional Treaty 7 territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Iyarhe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), also known as Calgary, Alberta. Now over 40 years later we are an integral part of the growing cultural community in Calgary and are excited about new collaborations and opportunities.
