Come join us at King's University College, Labatt Hall, Room 100 for an insightful event discussing the complexities of addressing gender-based violence (GBV) and the impact of Hate/Islamophobia/Gendered Islamophobia on Muslim communities. This two-day workshop will explore the opportunities and challenges of serving diverse Muslim communities, and collaborating with faith leaders and service providers to create effective, culturally integrative responses.Lessons Learned from Scaling CIFSRExplore how the Culturally Integrative Family Safety Response (CIFSR) framework was implemented in Ottawa and Kitchener/Waterloo. Gain insights into successes, challenges, and strategies for adapting culturally integrative approaches to support survivours of GBV in Muslim communities.Working across cultures – the CIFSR modelThe workshop will provide attendees with understanding and tools working across cultures using the CIFSR model and its impact in responding to GBV and supporting immigrant families including Muslims during their challenging times.Faith-Leader EngagementLearn about the critical role of faith leaders in addressing GBV, including:<ul><li>The importance of faith-based services.</li><li>Using Khutbahs (sermons) to raise awareness.</li><li>Key lessons from MRCSSI’s work with faith leaders.</li></ul>Addressing IslamophobiaUnderstand hate crimes with a focus on Hate, Islamophobia, and Gendered Islamophobia and its impact on the diverse Muslim communities, families, and individuals. Similarly, the workshop will explore issues to community safety and barriers to services, as well as its intersections with GBV responses.
