Join us on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the new Sunalta Community Hub Building for our annual Mini Summit - this Eventbrite listing is for In Person Only in Calgary!This year Mini Summit is exploring "Rooted in Relations(hip): community development as a daily practice of shared strengths, imagination and connection for moving vision to action." Over the course of three hours we bring together Community Development Practitioners from across Alberta for shared learning and connection. Students, paid, unpaid, volunteer, academics, all community-minded people are welcome.We look forward to having a wide variety of hosted sessions sharing approaches, successes, challenges, favourite tools, and important conversations!Tentative Session Schedule 3 pm - 3:15 pm - Opening 3:15 pm - 4:25 pm - Block One 1) Weaving Connection into Action through Intergenerational Relationships (Betty Good - GoodLinks Intergenerational Practice) 2) Generative Conversations (Christine Spottiswood - Flourish Alberta) 4:35 pm - 5:45 pm - Block Two 1) The Power of Connection (Jenna Wray - Better Belonging) 2) Build "Grassroots" Community: Connect. Collaborate. Grow. ( Kent Patel - Sunalta Resident (Front Row with Friends &amp; Neighbours) 6 pm - 7:10 pm - Block Three 1) The Stories We Grow: Identity and Meaning-Making Beyond Systems of Harm (Agnes Chen - Starlings Community) 2) Getting into the non-for-profit world for Asian (Korean) Community, bridging Culture and Community (Young In Kim - Korean Social Services Centre (KSSC))3) Weaving Conneciton in Sunalta, (Tyson Bankert, CDLI) 7:10 pm - 7:30 pm Closing A few sessions are also in the works that will make use of the wonderful outdoor space at the Sunalta Hub. Notes on Attending in Person - What You Can ExpectThe building is two stories and we will be using both. There is an enclosed lift as well as stairs to access the second floor. Access into the building is via a short set of stairs or full length access ramp. Coffee, tea, water and nurishing snacks will be provided throughout. Washrooms are gender neutral single rooms.Parking is primarily street parking around the building with a mixture of free and paid parking - please take note of signs in the specific location you park. The building is directly across from the Sunalta C-train station with a marked cross walk including lights.If you live in Alberta and outside of Calgary and are wanting to join this In Person Mini Summit opportunity please email cdli@caryacalgary.ca to let us know. We are trialing a travel honoraria for those who want to attend from outside of Calgary.This year we are offering these in person only sessions at the Sunalta Community Hub in Calgary on Thursday June 19th in addition to online only sessions via Zoom on Wednesday June 18th. We'd love to have you at one or both. You will need to register for both separately if you choose to do so.
