Will I be picked on?

Accepted Answer

NO!  Absolutely not.  Improv comedy isn't about picking on the audience. You're there to have fun, and so are we!

Question 2

Do I have to offer suggestions?

Only if you want to!  For example, the host might ask: "Where do the people in this scene work?" The audience members might shout out: "Starbucks" or "Walmart" or "In a mechanic's garage".    Not everyone wants to offer a suggestion and that is totally fine :-)

Do I have to participate?

Accepted Answer

Basically NO.  Only a few of the scenes require an audience participant (1-2 people only).  So, don't worry if you aren't interested in volunteering ... someone else will :-)

Question 4

Are the comedians really making everything up?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely!!!  Everything you see on the stage is 100% made up on the spot.  The improvisors know the structure of the scenes and the songs, but they find out what the scene/song topic is while they are onstage - no planning, no scripts.

Does the venue serve food?

Accepted Answer

YES. The Rivoli has yummy food!

Is the show dirty?   X Rated?

Accepted Answer

Hmmm... Not really.  However, you will most likely hear a few F bombs.  There can be naughty innuendo at times. But there is nothing overtly dirty... at least most of the time.  There is no nudity.  There's nothing in the show that would make your grandmother faint.

Transit and Parking

Parking in downtown Toronto is a headache!  Suggest that you bike, or take public transit, or an Uber instead.  The Rivoli is easy to get to via TTC.  The Queen streetcar passes right by.  The subway is also handy - The Rivoli is just a short hop from Osgoode station.

YES! Ticket holders can get 10% off food orders in the dining room pre-show!
