Are you interested in learning fun, creative ways to engage in self-care? Are you a fan of video games, board games, competition, and the like? Then this workshop is for you.Gamifying self-care is all about bringing elements of gameplay – like badges, achievements, and competition with friends – into our self-care routines, helping us build healthy habits and have fun while doing it.In this workshop, you’ll learn about the research behind gamification, how bringing playfulness into your self-care routine can bolster your mental health, and some of the activities you can do to gamify self-care in your life.Join our facilitator Emily Dorey as she shares about the benefits of gamification, self-care tips and tricks, and how you can implement these tactics in your own mental health journey.Facilitator Bio -Emily is a passionate advocate for mental health and social justice.Originally from Hampton, New Brunswick, Emily graduated from St. Thomas University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications &amp; Public Policy and English Literature. She went on to study at Wilfrid Laurier University, where she obtained her Master of Arts degree in Social Justice and Community Engagement in 2019. Since then, she has worked in the mental health and community impact sectors and is thrilled to continue to do so at CMHA.In her role as Peer Support Coordinator, Emily is responsible for overseeing the Peer Incubator Hub and Thrive Learning Centre as part of the Education and Training team, including building relationships across the province to promote peer support services for Nova Scotians. She is excited about creating more opportunities for individuals to access support and care on their mental health journeys.When she is not working, Emily can usually be found curled up with a good book and a cup of tea, crocheting, or watching Formula 1 racing.
