Troy Hamilton is the Co-Founder and Director of Operations at CaRe Clinic, a leading clinical research site network in Canada. With extensive experience in medical research gained through roles at the University of Calgary and senior management positions in private clinical settings, Troy is internationally recognized for his effective leadership and strategic team-building skills. He excels in developing high-performing teams by fostering inclusive, collaborative, and innovative workplace cultures, consistently translating complex initiatives into tangible and measurable outcomes.Drawing on his educational background in biological sciences and project management, alongside his CCRP designation from SoCRA, Troy's expertise encompasses business operations, quality assurance, process improvement, stakeholder engagement, financial management, resource optimization, and performance measurement within the clinical research sector. Frequently invited as a speaker and expert panelist, Troy regularly shares insights at international conferences and industry events, reinforcing his reputation as a respected thought leader in the clinical research ecosystem.

Tara Cowling is the Founder and President of Medlior Health Outcomes Research Ltd., established in 2008 to deliver high-quality, data-driven insights for health outcomes research. With over 20 years of experience in both public and private sectors, she has held roles at Alberta Health Services, AstraZeneca UK, Wyeth UK, and IQVIA UK, and began her career as a Research Fellow at NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) in London.Tara holds an MSc from McMaster University and a BA/MA in Physiological Sciences from the University of Oxford. She is a board member of BioAlberta and co-founder of the TOWWERS Institute, a nonprofit advancing real-world evidence for value-based healthcare.A champion for women in STEM and business leadership, Tara is an active member of the Women’s Presidents’ Organization (WPO), Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA), and ISPOR.

Lawrence Richer, MD, MSc (Clinical Epidemiology), is a professor in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Alberta and a practicing pediatric neurologist. He serves as the Associate Dean of Health Research for the College of Health Sciences and the Center Director of the Northern Alberta Clinical Trials and Research Center (NACTRC). In his leadership roles, he is committed to advancing support for impactful interdisciplinary health research, clinical trials, and leveraging health data to improve patient outcomes. His research focus includes applications of precision health in disorders of the autonomic nervous system in children and the treatment of pediatric migraine.

Rami Fayed was appointed Vice President and General Manager in January 2024.A pharmacist by profession, with over 25 years’ experience, Rami has held various leadership roles within the pharmaceutical industry spanning general management, commercial and medical operations.Prior to leading the Canadian operations, having joined Abbott in 2009, Rami was the Vice President of Global Specialty Care, the Regional Vice president for Middle East and Africa, the General Manager of Saudi Arabia, and held several leadership positions in Immunology, Oncology, Neuroscience and Specialty Care.Rami began his career in Egypt with Janssen Cilag as a medical representative and then moved to Schering Plough in Saudi Arabia where held several positions in sales, marketing and as Business Unit Director of Immunology and Oncology.Throughout his career Rami has been actively involved with industry groups as he is dedicated to driving positive change within the pharmaceutical industry in order to make a remarkable impact on patients’ lives.In his capacity as the Chairman of the industry group PhRMA for Middle East and Africa, Rami worked with many government agencies on developing programs for upskilling local talent. One of Rami’s major achievements was launching the BioPharma Academy to develop local Saudi Arabia pharmacists. During his time in Saudi Arabia, he led the advocacy for the introduction of a special classification of pharmaceutical companies with the Ministry of Labor. This led to streamlining the industry activities across the kingdom.Rami served as the Chairman of the Research based pharmaceutical industry in Saudi from 2013 to 2017 and was the Vice Chairman then Chairman of the PhRMA Middle East and Africa Pharmaceutical industry association from 2019 to 2022. Rami was also a board member of the Middle East Diversity Council from 2021 to 2022.Rami holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Alexandria University in Egypt.

Ryan Mercer is the Director of Clinical Research Innovation at Alberta Innovates, managing initiatives and programs in clinical trials, artificial intelligence, and health technology. Ryan has spent nearly a decade advancing research and innovation in Alberta, working with provincial funding agencies to support applied and translational research towards socioeconomic impact. Ryan is dedicated to building capacity and capabilities in Alberta’s health and life sciences ecosystem, identifying the opportunities and addressing the needs of industry and society.
