World Interfaith Harmony Week Film Discussion

The Edmonton Interfaith Centre was founded in December 1995 to promote respect,friendship, harmony and understanding between people of various faiths. Our programs aim tohelp people live together as good neighbors. The Interfaith Centre has lay and clergy membersfrom many different faiths, and has more than a dozen different religions represented on itscurrent board.The objective of the Interfaith Centre is to educate its members and the wider communityabout the diverse religious faiths present in Edmonton. We have a long history of success indeveloping programs which communicate the importance of respect for diversity. We haveimplemented a wide variety of programs, large and small, which have brought together peopleof many faiths to discuss critical issues facing our community. The programs include lectures,prayer services, discussions, presentations, and interfaith dialogues. The Centre also works toraise awareness about local and global discrimination and to model a non-discriminatorylifestyle.

Lori Stewart and Jack Jervis have been facilitating movie discussions at Naramata Centre, BC, St Stephen&#x27;s College, and various churches in Edmonton for over 25 years. Lori is a spiritual director, poet, and was associate faculty at St Stephen&#x27;s College. Jack is a retired personnel manager who has made film watching his hobby for most of his life. Lori and Jack look forward to the upcoming conversation on January 31st. 

The film we will watch and discuss is &quot;The Life Ahead,&quot; starring Sophia Loren. Its running time is 1 hour and 34 minutes and is available on Netflix. The intent is to watch the film in advance and then discuss it on Zoom from 2:30 PM to 4 PM on Sunday, January 31st. (See the link attached.) Everyone&#x27;s point of view is appreciated. 

The film is about a Holocaust survivor with a daycare business in seaside Italy who takes in a 12-year-old street kid who recently robbed her. Her diverse community of friends provide support for both the old woman and the boy.
