Teaching Early Communication Skills (OAP)

Our wide range of Wellness Events provide timely services that support the changing needs of our clients across the lifespan. These are delivered through various means, including groups, workshops, clinics, drop-ins, phone-ins and Telehealth services.-Notre vaste gamme d’événements de bien-être offre des services en temps opportun qui soutiennent l’évolution des besoins de nos clients tout au long de leur vie. Surrey Place

**Must be registered with the OAP, and have a child between 0-18 with a confirmed diagnosis of ASD to attend**In this session, families will gain an understanding of how early speech and communication skills develop in children with autism and learn teaching strategies to help develop their child's communications skills within every day routines.This workshop is appropriate for caregivers of children with early communication skills, such as hand leading, pointing, single or 2-3 word sentences.This is a foundational family service through the OAP and families must meet eligibility criteria to attend.Note: After attending this session, families are eligible for a 1-hour individual follow up to focus on individualized goals and help caregivers plan to apply their learning to their own families and homes.Participants will receive a link by email from: wellness.registration@surreyplace.ca the day before the event.
