You Can Be Safe With Me: A Conversation on Allyship, Authenticity and Advocacy with Naomi NadeaLocation: Weldon Community Room 128, D.B. Weldon LibraryJoin us for an intimate and powerful conversation with Trans community advocate Naomi Nadea (she/her), as she speaks to the importance of creating safety, visibility, and belonging for Trans and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities in a challenging political climate. Rooted in the theme "You Can Be Safe With Me," this event will explore the need for active allyship, the courage it takes to live authentically and the resilience required to navigate increasing transphobia and homophobia here and around the world. Through personal storytelling and community dialogue, Naomi will reflect on what it means to hold space for one another, especially for those whose identities are often targeted or erased. Participants will walk away with a deeper understanding of how to meaningfully uplift Trans voices, challenge harmful narratives and build supportive networks grounded in care, accountability and respect.This event is open to everyone!If you require an accommodation, please email Kathryn at kfrase87@uwo.ca.

Speaker: Naomi Nadea (she/her)Bio: Naomi is a dedicated and influential advocate for the LGBT community, with a special focus on advancing transgender rights. Her work is driven by a passion for ensuring that transgender individuals have access to equal rights, protection and opportunities, and that their voices are heard within both the LGBT community and broader society. As an active participant in community service, Naomi has made significant strides in building bridges between marginalized communities and law enforcement, working tirelessly to create safer, more inclusive spaces for all. Her efforts to mend ties with the police have been instrumental in fostering mutual understanding and trust. Recognized by political figures for her impactful advocacy, Naomi is a regular attendee at Parliamentary conferences where she continues to shape policies that benefit the transgender community. Her dedication to systemic change has made her a respected figure in the fight for equality.As a powerful keynote speaker, Naomi specializes in helping individuals, businesses, and organizations navigate their EDI journeys, providing practical training and strategies to foster inclusive environments. Naomi is committed to eradicating hate, transphobia, and racism, equipping her clients with the tools to create workplaces and communities where everyone, regardless of gender identity, race, or background, can thrive. Through her compelling presentations and tailored training sessions, Naomi inspires and empowers others to take meaningful steps toward creating lasting change and building a more equitable world.
