Conundrum Press was founded in Montreal in 1996 as a forum for underrepresented writing and art. We started publishing local chapbooks and comics but switched our mandate to literary graphic novels to coincide with a move to Nova Scotia. Today Conundrum is well-established on the international scene for graphica. Our mandate continues to be discovering new and diverse voices in Canada, including our BDANG Imprint which translates francophones for the English audience. We publish approximately 10 books a year from our offices in Wolfville, NS.

Join us on Zoom to celebrate Toronto cartoonist Dakota McFadzean&#x27;s latest collection of short comics: TO KNOW YOU&#x27;RE ALIVE, published by Conundrum Press. Hosted by theatre artist Jayden Pfeifer, this event will feature a live reading with a soundscape by actor and composer Daniel Maslany, lots of cartooning fun, plus door prizes! He has also worked as a storyboard artist for DreamWorks and Netflix, and is an alumni of The Center for Cartoon Studies. To Know You’re Alive is McFadzean’s third book with Conundrum Press; other titles include Other Stories and the Horse You Rode in On, and Don’t Get Eaten by Anything, which collects three years of daily comic strips. He is a co-editor/co-founder of the comics and art anthology Irene, and distributes his own short stories in his ongoing mini-comic series, Last Mountain. McFadzean currently lives in Toronto with his wife and two sons.
