How do we get involved in social change? Elizabeth MacLeod and Frieda Wishinsky share stories of inspired, outspoken youth. For ages 10-14+.

<h3>About this event</h3><p>Hear the stories of amazing activists who changed the world.</p><p>Learn about kids and adults from around the world who&#x27;ve tackled climate change, social justice, animal rights and anti-war protests. Find out what these activists have in common and what makes them successful.</p><p>Discover how you too can become an activist in your school or community!</p><p>CC – This event will be close captioned by CHS Services. </p>

<h3>About the facilitators</h3><p>Biographies, picture books, cookbooks—<strong>Elizabeth MacLeod</strong> has written them all and more. She has won many awards for her writing, including the Norma Fleck Award for Canadian Children's Nonfiction, as well as Children's Choice awards across Canada. She lives in Toronto, Ontario.</p><p><strong>Frieda Wishinsky</strong> is the international award-winning author of over seventy books. She writes picture books, chapter books, novels and nonfiction. Her books have been translated into many languages. Frieda lives in Toronto, Ontario.</p>

<h3>About the book</h3><p>Just Get Started! Be Unstoppable! Dream Big! <em>How to Become an Accidental Activist </em>profiles almost 100 activists from around the world, including change-makers like Greta Thunberg, Pete Seeger and Lilly Singh. This book shows us how ordinary people have persevered throughout history to do extraordinary things to help themselves and others.</p><p>These activists come from many different backgrounds and a drives to take action. They work for human rights, to help the environment, to preserve historic buildings and more. This book will inspire young readers by giving them tips on getting started, continuing when the going gets tough and encouraging others to get involved. They will learn how to use determination, channel their passions and dream big to change the world.</p>
