"Piecing" Sharing Circles for Therapists and Caregivers

Sundancer Psychological Services was established in 1995 by Joanne Ginter who has provided psychological services for over 20 years under this name. Initially established for psychological practice, Sundancer Psychological Services offered counselling and assessment services to residents in Cochrane, Alberta and surrounding areas, including Calgary. During this time Joanne also developed and presented training workshops in Canada, the US, and the UK on play therapy and child related therapies.Since 2003, Sundancer Psychological Services has focused primarily on the development of The Resiliency Project. This has included developing workshops and completing her book on intercultural resiliency, released in December 2016.WORKSHOP PRESENTERJoanne Ginter is a registered psychologist with 35 years of counsellingexperience with degrees in Psychology and Religious Studies.Joanne specializes in counselling individuals of all ages and families,focusing on trauma, family violence and development of culturallyinclusive counselling. Joanne emphasizes the process of the therapeuticrelationship to be key, integrating narrative, solution focus, systemicand collaborative approaches as well as hypnosis and traditionalhealing methods.Joanne has been actively devoted to training students and professionalsthrough clinical supervision and the development and presentation ofworkshops on play therapy, resiliency and collaborative therapy.Joanne has recently become a member of the faculty at theCityUSeattle, Calgary campus.

These circles  provide opportunity to 'share' what's happening in our lives as we give on a daily basis to others.

"Piecing' sharing circles are being offered for therapists, teachers and other professional caregivers to provide an opportunity to 'share' what's happening in our lives. In our roles, we give on a daily basis often having little opportunity to share our inner feelings, struggles, successes and challenges. Modeled after Indigenous Talking Circles and the creativity, harmony, and commuity found in joining pieces in quiltmaking.Open to 8 participants for each circle. Maximum 2 hours depending on sharing. Confidential, providing an opportunity to share and be part of creating your own self care journey.Each participant will have an opportunity to share; then pass to the next person.In the first go around, each person shares without commenting on another or hearing comments. Just having the opportunity to be heard. In the second go around, each person can add to one's initial share and also comment to another person.The idea of 'piecing' comes from quilt making as each member sews a piece of one's story into the whole; held together by a community of care.'Piecing' circles will be held online twice monthly online and once in person.
