In a world that seems to spin faster every day, Champagne Weather makes time stand still. With a blend of songwriting and sound sculpture, the band artfully connects folk/roots to modern minimalism. Every song is a shimmering blanket of sound with flashes of Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Appalachian fiddle and Maritime folksong. Their music wraps around the audience, creating transformative musical moments.​***Champagne Weather is new music from James Hill and Anne Janelle. Separately and together, Hill and Janelle have won a Canadian Folk Music Award and garnered both JUNO and ECMA nominations. They have performed widely at venues and festivals across Canada as well as internationally from New York to London to Tokyo. With Champagne Weather, the duo explores musical territory that reflects the full breadth of their musical lives and loves. The result is both healing and haunting: strange and beautiful music for strange and beautiful times.

Champagne Weather will also be hosting a workshop in the afternoon of October 8th.Music for Paper is not your average music workshop. Not even close. For one, there aren’t any instruments. All you get is a piece of paper. No rules. Just you, some new friends, a sheet of paper, and a whole lot of unexpected creativity.You’ll crinkle, rip, fold, tap, swipe, and scrunch your way into sound. You’ll make beats, textures, and weirdly beautiful noise. You’ll jam with others (no experience required) and you’ll leave your “I’m not musical” excuse at the door. This is music-making for the curious, the shy, the bold, the nervous, and the confident. No wrong notes. No pressure. Just play. Led by James Hill and Anne Janelle of Champagne Weather, Music for Paper is part chill hang, part sonic adventure, and entirely unforgettable.Bring your imagination.
