The Artful Me Selfie Photo Project by Diana Nazareth

Diana Nazareth will be hosting a two part photography workshop which will teach kids aged 9 to 14 the basics of photography and encourage them to take self portraits without showing their face. For this second workshop, which will take place in person, Diana will help the kids take their self portraits, and let the kids print the photographs as well. Date: Saturday October 16 at 11amLocation: 401 Richmond St W #350, Toronto, ON M5V 3A8The first workshop will take place online prior to this event and kids will have the opportunity to learn the basic principles of photography. Participants must wear a mask and practise physical distancing at this event.-<a href="https://onculturedays.ca/diana-nazareth-2021-oncd-tpl/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">About the program:</a>The eye of the camera looks out into the world, but self-portraiture is a mirror that turns the lens back around onto oneself. Young people are no strangers to selfies, but a DSLR camera can sometimes be an inaccessible foreign object. Diana Nazareth will be hosting online and in-person photography workshops for kids aged 9 to 14, encouraging them to think outside the box to take self-portraits without showing their faces, while incorporating elements of their identity, culture, and interests. The images will be displayed at Toronto Public Library’s Scarborough Civic Centre Branch branch and in an online exhibition during the Ontario Culture Days festival.
