St. Catharines Culture:The Cultural Services office is a division of the City of St. Catharines’ Community, Recreation and Culture Services department. Cultural Services focuses on public art, community development, planning and policy related to arts and culture in the City of St. Catharines. During Culture Days, staff partner with organizations and artists to deliver programs for the Community.Start Me Up Niagara Work Action Centre:Start Me Up Niagara works with individuals facing significant life challenges such as addiction, mental illness, poverty, homelessness and unemployment. They provide opportunities to improve health, increase community integration and support employment. The Work Action Centre supports eligible participants with access to enhanced skills development training and business supports. Resources include a computer learning lab and an artistic retail space.

Start Me Up Niagara Work Action Centre, 203 Church St.
Saturday, October 9, Sessions begin at: 10 a.m., 12 and 2 p.m.

Expect to spend 90 minutes participating, Suitable for all ages, adult companion required

Workshops limited to 10 participants per session. Materials Provided Collage and create an assemblage using paper, found materials and fun objects to make a beautiful piece of original art worthy of your wall! Join us to experience this fun, hands-on and relaxing art activity suitable for any ability.

PLEASE INDICATE FULL NAMES OF PARTICIPANTS FOR EACH TICKET IF YOU ARE REGISTERING FOR MORE THAN ONE PERSON............................................................................Our instructor: Renu D&#x27;Cunha was only seven years old she entered an art competition and won first prize for a lake scene in watercolor and that is where her art making began. She began with Christmas Cards and selling them where she working at the hospital. More formal training began when she started to study with artist Connie Clause and learned the art of watercolors. She went to College later in life when her kids were getting older and studied visual arts at Niagara College her first serious art education. She began to display her work and teach classes in watercolor and eventually opened a collective art gallery for a few years. Throughout her life making art has always been a constant. Despite her physical disabilities and issues with her mental health, art has always been the key that has helped her cope along the way. Renu has been working with the assistance of Start Me Up Niagara in the self-employment program to continue to grow her artistic practice............................................................................Culture Days is taking place in St. Catharines from September 24 to October 24 2021.
