What happens after the workshop?

At the end of the workshops, completed film strips will be given to the instructor to be scanned into moving images. After a few weeks, digital copies of your animation will be emailed to you, and all animations will be screened at the event on April 16th.

What ages are the workshops suitable for?

All ages are welcome, but adults, teens, and children 6-8+ will be able to engage with the workshop best. Young children should be supervised by a parent or guardian as some materials we use for the workshop are sharp.

Drop-ins will be accommodated only if capacity has not been reached through registration. If the Eventbrite listing is not "sold out", participants can drop in at the workshop start time for free.

Do I need to attend both workshops?

No, both workshops are the same. Please choose only one to allow as many community members slots as possible. All participants are welcome to return on April 16th for the screening of all our work.

Is the venue accessible?

42 Carden St. is fully accessible, with an elevator to the 4th floor workshop and accessible bathrooms available on that level.

Learn to create with film for FREE! Scratch, paint, and draw on 16mm and create a cameraless stop motion animation - no experience needed.

Join us for a one-of-a-kind workshop where you'll animate by hand on 16mm film to create your own short stop-motion piece. Perfect for beginners, families, emerging artists, and anyone looking to explore hands-on, non-digital animation techniques.

Participants will be taught an array of direct animation techniques to scratch, paint, draw, and colour on their film strip, and receive pieces of black, clear, and scrap film to create their own 15 second mini animation. You'll walk away with new artmaking skills, and after the film has been scanned, a digital copy of your finished piece to share with family and friends!

Workshops will take place on March 26th and 27th at 10C Shared Space in Guelph. Join us for one of these dates, and then return on April 16th for a screening of all our work!
