Join us on October 11th at 2PM for a special workshop with La Crear Poder Popular Collective!We invite participants to contribute to the No Me Olviden arpillera, a workshop led by the Crear Poder Popular Collective.Participants will have the opportunity to honor the life of one of the detained and disappeared in Chile by creating one of the individuals listed on the Rettig Report.The workshop will provide a space to learn sewing techniques while transforming the act of remembrance into art. Through this communal practice we will ensure that the stories of those who suffered under the dictatorship remain alive in our collective consciousness.*Register soon, space is limited.This workshop is co-presented by Casa Salvador Allende Toronto. ABOUT THE FACILITATORSince 2023, the CREAR PODER POPULAR COLLECTIVE, composed of four Montreal-based Chilean women, have led exhibitions, workshops, and presentations in universities, schools, and memory sites across Canada, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, and Sweden. Their practice combines visual arts, research, and pedagogy, rooted in participatory methods and a commitment to social justice. Carolina Echeverría’s acclaimed visual art explores migration, identity, and cultural exchange; Gisela Frías, a geographer and professor at Dawson College, focuses on participatory action research across Latin America; Denise A. Olivares combines textiles and photography to reframe memory and belonging; and Sarabeth Triviño, a professional artisan and textile artist, works with crochet, macramé, knitting, and embroidery to address feminist, social, and environmental issues.
